Trying to decide between VS1 and VS2 resolution levels?
In this tutorial we will compare the two VS clarity grades and answer questions you need to know such as:

Examples and real values from VS Diamonds Online:
Main differences between VS1 and VS2 diamonds
- VS1 diamonds are more rare while VS2 diamonds are less rare.
- VS1 diamonds are more expensive, while VS2 diamonds of the same quality tend to be cheaper.
- VS1 diamond inclusions tend to be closer to the outer edges, while VS2 diamond inclusions tend to be toward the center.
- VS1 diamonds should have no dark inclusions, while VS2 diamonds may have one or two dark inclusions.
What is Diamond Clarity VS?
A VS clarity diamond means the stone is graded as Very Slightly Included. The VS clarity level consists of two diamond qualities: VS1 diamonds and VS2 diamonds.
Both VS1 and VS2 have diamondsinclusions and imperfectionswhich can be viewed at 10x magnification or greater.Diamond clarity gradesDiamonds are graded based on size, location, texture, relief, and the number of inclusions and defects present in the stone.
VS clarity diamonds mean that the clarity characteristics of the diamond are not visible to the naked eye. However, inclusions can be viewed at 10x magnification or higher.
We call diamonds diamonds that have no inclusions visible to the naked eyepure diamonds for the eyes. The VS clarity level is the first level that is considered clear to the eyes.
VS1 vs VS2 Diamond: visual differences
Dividing a clarity grade into individual diamond grades makes it difficult to distinguish between them. The same goes for VS1 and VS2 diamonds.
The visual differences between the two degrees of purity are minimal. The average person can look at a VS1 and a VS2 diamond side by side and not be able to tell them apart. At best, they would guess and be right.
Even at 10x magnification, the difference is still hard to tell. However, you are more likely to notice dark inclusions.in Diamond VS2it wasin a VS1 diamond.

Same VS2 diamond at about 10x magnification
It is difficult even for the most experienced peopleDiamond degreesto assess the clarity of the diamond. There are no machines or mathematical standards for analyzing diamond clarity. The GIA has a master set of diamond grades that incoming diamonds are combined with to assign a grade.
What really makes a VS1 diamond visually different from a VS2 diamond?
So, the concept of inclusions. Although both VS1 and VS2 are on the Very Light Inclusion scale, VS2 diamonds are more likely to have darker and larger inclusions than a VS1 diamond. At 10x magnification you should not see any obvious inclusions in a VS1 diamond.

VS1 vs VS2: Value and Resale
Many people believe that diamonds must be precious, even if they cost a lot. But most brick and mortar retailers sell commercial grade diamonds, not the good stuff you can find online.
For a place like Kays or Zales, a VS1 or VS2 center diamond would be awesome. Most of what they sell in the store is YES orI diamonds of clarity. But there are plenty of VS1 and VS2 diamonds in an online retailer's catalog.
Owning a VS1 or VS2 diamond cannot be resold for much money. There is no point in investing in colorless diamonds unless you have a huge, flawless diamond.
So my advice to you is to not consider the cash or resale value of your VS Diamonds, whatever grade you choose. Technically, a VS1 diamond is considered rarer and more valuable than a VS2 diamond because it ranks higher on the clarity scale.
However, this is only true if all other diamond qualities are comparable. A 3 carat VS2 diamond withcolor EIt is more valuable than a 1 carat VS1 G color scale diamond. It is much more difficult for diamond cutters to cut VS clarity in larger than average diamonds.1 carat diamond.
Lab-grown diamonds are also being considered. A VS1 clarity lab grown diamond is not worth as much as a VS2 clarity mined diamond. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds in the truest sense of the word, but they do not have the same value as mined diamonds.
Lab-grown diamonds can be produced in a short period of timeand often more than one at a time. Diamonds take billions of years to form in the ground, and are an extremely painful amount of money to mine and make jewel cases.
Jewelers often do not offer an enhancement plan for lab-grown diamonds because of the way their prices fluctuate. However, more and more lab-grown diamond retailers are starting to offer their own offerings.
VS1 Diamond vs VS2 Diamond: price difference
The price differences between a VS1 diamond and a VS2 diamond of the same quality are also minimal. These diamonds are usually in the area of approx5% billion 15%They increase.
But again, this number changes when you compare VS1 and VS2 diamonds of different grades. The price of diamonds depends on several factors such as:
- Diamant-Form
- Certified diamonds vs. uncertified diamonds
- Qualification certification workshop
- The ground
- retailers
- Lab grown versus mined diamonds
- special cuts
- incoloro vs.fancy colored diamonds
- Dimensions
- fluorescence
- Treatment
It is not uncommon for VS2 diamonds to be more expensive than VS1 diamonds. Be sure to carefully compare the specific details of your diamonds, not just the 4Cs. Symmetry, polish, length to width ratio and other details are not part of the 4cs but are important in diamond pricing.
The cost of a 1 carat VS1 diamond ranges from $5,000 to $12,000 depending on quality. The average cost of a 1 carat VS2 diamond is around $3,000 to $8,000.
This average cost changes dramatically when talking about 1-carat lab-grown diamonds. The exact price of a lab-grown diamond is more difficult to estimate as it ranges from one to one US dollar20-40% reduction in mined diamondsof the same classes. I've even seen them for 60% off on someour beloved agents.

Which is better, Diamonds VS1 or Diamonds VS2?
I know you came here to help you with your decision, but it probably doesn't seem like I'm leaning one way or the other.
Well, Julie, so be it. Which is better, VS1 Diamonds or VS2 Diamonds?
As with much of the diamond industry, it's complicated. But I will explain it in simple terms, so listen carefully.
If you buy 1-2 caratsBrilliant cut diamondI would choose a VS2 diamond. However, if you choose an emerald or Asscher cut diamond, you may want to go for a VS1 diamond.
If you are looking to buy a 2 carat diamond, I also recommend buying a VS1 diamond, whatever shape you choose.
However, you should always look at high resolution videos and images of your diamond when shopping online. Make sure the retailer you choose has a good return policy in case you don't like what you see.
VS1 and VS2 diamonds are considered medium clarity diamonds. This is an excellent level of clarity for a diamond engagement ring, as there are no inclusions visible to the naked eye. Inclusions can be seen at 10x magnification and higher, which isn't really noticeable to people looking at your ring with the naked eye anyway.
