optical carat
StoneAlgo developed our visual carat measurement to help you understand if your diamond appears larger or smaller than its actual carat weight suggests.
For example, a 1 carat diamond may have a visual value of 1.05 carats (meaning it looks like an average 1.05 carat diamond) or a lower visual value such as 0.95 (meaning how a 0.95 carat diamond looks when you see it from above).

Cutoff-Score
How brilliant will your diamond look in person? Our cut score uses each diamond's unique dimensions to determine how perfectly cut it is (and how well it reflects light).
Cut grading is based on a 10-point scale, and we typically recommend looking for round diamonds rated 7.5 or better.

aspect ratio
The length to width ratio is calculated by dividing the widest part of the diamond by the narrowest part. A length to width ratio of 1.00 would make a perfect circle or square. When the ratio exceeds 1, the diamond appears more oval or square. For round diamonds you want a ratio as close to 1.00 as possible and for fancy shapes it really is the preference.

Karat
The weight of your diamond and the most common measure used to describe the size of the diamond. Our visual carat weight measurement is an even more accurate measure of how large a diamond actually appears based on its surface area expressed in carat weight.
Colour
The GIA grades diamonds on a scale from D (colorless) to Z (light color). StoneAlgo only displays colorless (D - F), nearly colorless (G - J) and K-colored (weak) diamonds. The most common type of color for diamond engagement rings is the H color.
clarity
Clarity grades measure the type, size and location of inclusions on the surface or inside the diamond. The most common clarity grades for engagement rings are VS2 and SI1.
fluorescence
One in three diamonds will show some level of fluorescence when exposed to UV light. In fact, a little fluorescence can be good when buying a nearly colorless (G - J) or weakly colored (K) diamond.
polishing
Once the diamonds are cut into their final shape, they are polished to shine as brightly as possible. Most people choose a very good polish or better.
symmetry
Sometimes diamonds are not cut symmetrically, which can mean that the diamond does not shine to its full potential. We recommend excellent symmetry.
A/W ratio
The ratio is calculated by dividing the length of the diamond by its width. For round diamonds, the ideal A/W ratio is 1.00 to 1.05, while for some fancy shapes it's more a matter of style and preference.
percentage depth
The height of the diamond as a percentage of its width.
table percentage
The width of the table (the flat top of the diamond) as a percentage of the total width of the diamond.
